Hi there,
We’ve just released a new BuonMenu feature designed to help you make allergen information clearer, easier to manage, and more accessible on your digital menu.
You can now create a numbered allergen legend for your restaurant and associate one or more allergen numbers with each dish.
This keeps your public menu clean and easy to read: customers see the allergen numbers next to the dish name, and they can click on those numbers to expand the full allergen name and description.
For example, a dish could show allergens 1, 3, 7 next to its name. When tapped, customers can immediately see what those numbers refer to, such as gluten, eggs, or milk.
Create your restaurant’s allergen list from the new Allergens section in your dashboard.
When you open the admin dashboard, the new button is near "Add menu", "Upload PDF", "Add link" in the horizontal navigation under the restaurant name.
For each allergen, you can add:
Then, simply add the relevant allergen numbers to each dish from the menu editor.
You can also enter the list of ingredients for a dish if that works better for your restaurant.
Allergen information is important, but it can quickly make a menu feel crowded. With BuonMenu’s numbered allergen system, your menu stays simple while still giving customers the information they need.
It is especially useful if you want to:
Open your restaurant dashboard and go to Allergens.
From there, you can create your allergen table, then add the relevant numbers to each dish.
For best results, make sure every allergen number used on your dishes has a matching entry in the Allergens section. This ensures customers can click the number and see the correct name and description.
Need a starting point? You can use the 14 common allergens as a reference, including cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanuts, soybeans, milk, nuts, celery, mustard, sesame seeds, sulphur dioxide and sulphites, lupin, and molluscs.
You can find more information in this blog post:
Please remember to adapt your allergen information to the laws in force in your country, your recipes, your suppliers, and any local requirements.
